Lotion Bars

I know you are probably thinking… just get a tube of lotion, throw it in your bag and you are ready to go…

Maybe I’m the only one… but has anyone else ever squirted too much lotion, just to have all this extra and you struggle to rub it all into your hands? So you start spreading it on your arms, elbows, legs… etc.

I love lotion bars! They can come in all shapes, sizes, designs… they are compact too, just keep them in a tin or small bag. When you’re not using them, you can store them in the freezer for a later date… and unlike lotion tubes or bottles… you never have an over use problem or an empty container to fill in a garbage because of biohazard reasons… they can’t be recycled…

They can come in many different scents and another added bonus is they are 100% natural – made with oil, butter and wax, so you could essentially put them in a wax warmer, and let the smells fill your home…

I wanted to share my lotion bars with others so I have started to make them again. I am starting with these pretty little hearts… perfect for your hands! They are a great baby shower gift or personal item. They are 100% natural made two ways: beeswax, coconut oil, lavender essential oil, and either cocoa butter ~ or ~ shea butter.

A little information about and the difference between the two butters I use…

The similarities…

  • both come from trees – specifically from the nuts or beans of the tree
  • both are very common ingredients in lotions, soaps, creams and cosmetics
  • both are used to treat eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, stretch marks and other skin conditions
  • both are two of natures’ most powerful skin rejuvenating moisturizers

And the differences…

Cocoa Butter:

  • comes from a tree grown in South and Central America
  • used for massage lotions and aromatherapy – helps alleviate stress and support the immune system

Shea Butter:

  • comes from a tree grown in Africa
  • used to moisturize and shine hair
  • the vitamins in this butter are effective for the immune system as well, but they also aide in healthy skin and eyes. this butter also contains cinnamic acid – which is a special compound that helps to safeguard the skin from UV damage

I am going to start selling them on Etsy… you can have it personalized for a gift for a baby shower, baby announcement, or any gift you choose; or buy them for yourself… They can come in a small gift bag or a small tin, and can be personalized with either a sticker label or ribbon/tag. And I have 8 scents to chose from:

  • Honey
  • Honey Almond
  • Honey, Milk & Oatmeal
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Chai Tea
  • Harvest Spice
  • Tahitian Vanilla

I also have several different molds I can create… with more on the way…

(will post all the options shortly)

I am so excited to share these… others have told me how much they love that they are small, convenient, not huge space takers or weight issues for their bags like other lotions… hope you love them too!
